Univera is using Sodium Benzoate and Potassium Sorbate in Xtra® as preservatives for preventing microbial growth. These substances are generally recognized as safe (GRAS) when used in accordance with good manufacturing or feeding practice.
Yes, Xtra® is still safe to consume even if flaking residue is present. This occurs because Univestin, one of our key ingredients, does not completely dissolve in water, which can cause flakes to form over time. We recommend discarding the residue or using a strainer when pouring the remaining liquid from the bottle.
Xtra® contains concentrated extracts of blueberry, black cherry, concord grape, and cranberry, which help support healthy blood viscosity and normal clotting. However, for individuals taking blood thinners, these ingredients may have an additive effect with their medication.

I've been using Xtra, daily, for almost 20 years. I love it. I put it in a huge glass of water in the morning and off I go. This is just my personal experience, as I know that I can't just say that a nutritional supplement cured anything, but when I first started with Univera, I was on a prescription for Imitrex for migraines. That just stopped after I settled in using Xtra. I don't know if it was the anti-inflammatory properties or what. Since then, the only migraines I've gotten are very rare and always related to being dehydrated as when I see a ring of fire I can down two glasses of water and wait half an hour and they are gone. This was not the type I was experiencing before.
